Jan Smolik:
The artist’s youthful art education was at UNL where she studied Art, Interior Design, Art History, and Spanish graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education.
After several years of free lance design and teaching in Lincoln, she followed her family to Harlan County and launched a career as the Art Teacher at Alma Public
School.
Still wanting to study Art, she completed an M.A. at UNK.
As the public school career fades away, she continues to paint. Her images reflect the lake, her vineyard, places she goes and people she sees.
